Our Mares
“She’s one-in-a-million”; “such a great work ethic”’; “always gives 110%”; “Personality Plus”; “just a perfect partner”—these are just a few of the many descriptions of our mares from those that have been involved in their care, their training, and their lives. Don’t take my word for it, I’m happy to give you their references.
Commit, 2004 OTTB
She started work young. A 2 year old on the track at Churchill Downs with so much pressure to win. She suffered an injury coming out of the gate at her first race because she was trying so hard. She didn’t forget it, this one doesn’t forget anything. Racing wasn’t for her so she was handed to me from a family member to turn her into an eventer. I had limited experience in eventing so I found a trainer to show her the ropes. It didn’t take long—have I mentioned she’s smart? Her first season out, she was the AEC BN Reserve Champion. But this girl loves blue, so her next season she was the AEC BN National Champion. Then she taught me the ropes and as we were schooling for the Training Division, she suffered a potentially career ending stall accident which then led to a suspensory injury. She unfortunately wasn’t able to return to jumping so she turned to dressage and ended up qualifying and competing at the US Dressage Finals—in 2 divisions! She helped me get my USDF bronze medal and we decided to end her competition career with 14 years under her belt. She became a mother easily and is passing along her bravery, intelligence, and will to win!
American Eventing National Champion!!
Johnson’s Khalessi, 2014 KWPN
She had me at hello. Those eyes, and then you see her move—wow, what a hind leg! She gives 110%, always. She is the most affectionate horse I’ve ever met and a true partner in every sense of the word. We will be entering the FEI ring for the first time this upcoming season at the 2023 Adequan Global Dressage Festival. Please follow along with us on our journey to Grand Prix!
Serious concentration!! :)
Johnson’s Khalessi, 2021
Our first outing together which was in 2021. I have since learned she prefers the big arenas ;)!
